I’ve been to my fair share of weddings and I think its safe to say that I’ve seen some really funny maid of honor speeches, some really funny best man speeches, and some no so good one’s too.

Here’s where I think the difference between a really good one and a not so good one comes in.

First the not so good.

The not so good usually try to do things “off the cuff” or “wing it”
The not so good sometimes are REALLY drunk by the time they speak
The not so good sometimes (this is a BIG sometimes) cry during the entire speech so you couldn’t understand one word

Bridesmaid speeches are hard to write as well as present. This is because if you are the bridesmaid, it is quite obvious that you are close to the bride and the audience will be hoping to hear something interesting from you. You will know a number of secrets about the bride but you need to be sure to present them in the best possible manner so that it makes it the most memorable day for them and does not result in anything disgraceful.

When you write bridesmaid wedding speeches, there are a number of things that you need to be careful about. You should be sure of what you are including and what you are not including. Nothing in the speech should result in the couple’s fight.

A lot of times it is hard to decide who should be addressed in bridesmaid speeches. You are not sure whether you should talk to the audience as a whole, the bride, the groom or the parents of the bride/groom. As a tip, you should focus on the bride and the groom and only if required a third person. Referring to the third person will be have to decided spontaneously and should be done only if the need is felt. In order, it is possible that you will be reading the speech after the father or mother of the bride or groom. If they address you in their speech, you will have to thank them when you begin. You could also add some comments about the speech read out earlier by contradicting or including statements such as ‘I don’t quite agree with the best man here’ or ‘that is something new we got to know’.
